Yesterday, this years Suriname Heritage Festival was officially opened in Fort Nieuw Amsterdam. The evening saw different cultural acts, in one of which District Commisioner Ingrid Bink Karta even participated, the honoring of two of Commewijne’s most reknown fishermen and a presentation of Cynthia Abrahams giving us a detailed insight on Suriname’s most inspiring poet, Dobru.
